Another FoxCub Brewing review today and this time it is on Tropic Haze which is a hazy session IPA. Being a relatively new brewery, FoxCub has shown a major amount of craftsmanship with their small batch garnering a lot of demand and steadily gaining a positive reputation. I am honestly a massive fan of FoxCub and every brew of theirs has been top quality. So how did Tropic Haze fair? To find out I will cover the history of this beer and brewery, the pour, the taste and finally my verdict.
The new kid on the block
The history of this brewery is from the FoxCub Brewing about page but I have kind of reworded it. Foxcub Brewing is nanobrewery based in Spennymoor, County Durham. This was founded in March 2025 by Jamie Fox who is the head brewer and Director. This was born from a home garage as a passion project, in which through various goals of quality, creativity and community blossomed into a local brewery. Jamie has a hands on approach to each batch he brews to show a high level of dedication, care and craftsmanship.
Foxcub Brewing has four values comprising of Sustainability, Community and Local Engagement, Creativity and Innovation and finally Quality and Consistency. Foxcub appear to utilise small batch brewing insuring that each brew has a major level of care shown to it whilst also ensuring boundaries are pushed. By sourcing local ingredients, it helps support local businesses by buying British ingredients whilst also ensuring Foxcub gives back to community in terms of minimising waste, by giving spent grain to local farmers and taking care of their environmental footprint. This is performed in their packaging which utilises paper fill and items such as card/plant fibre beer can ring holders.
Furthermore, Fox cub is a welcoming space for those to unite over the cause of loving a good beer and as a North East brewery, I certainly love to support breweries such as themselves. Recently, FoxCub was included in the Camra Durham magazine as the “New Kid on the Block”. An expansion is due in July 2026 in which FoxCub teamed up with Brewhive Brewery Equipment for a dedicated full brewhouse system. This will help with the increasing demand and explosion in popularity of FoxCub. The aim is by Q1 in 2027 to have an operational taproom opened up too. So I would like to wish FoxCub the best of luck with that in the future and I would most certainly like to see whats in store.
Tropic Haze is a 4.6% Session IPA which is described as a “vibrant, easy-drinking beer that bursts with tropical character and zesty citrus flair”. This brew is made using Extra Pale Malt, Torrefied Oats, Wheat Malt and Dextrin Malt. And to the good stuff… The hops. This includes a dry hopped trio of Citra, Mosaic and Galaxy as well as the addition of Magnum hops. This should deliver a juicy and fruit forward flavour without the heaviness of a higher ABV IPA.
A lively and hazy pour

FoxCub Brewing Tropic Haze pours a yellow straw to slightly orange colour which is hazy in nature and naturally opaque. A foamy white head forms which retains a decent amount throughout the drinking experience, leaving a slight ring of lacing down the glass. The carbonation is lively but still presents a smooth and juicy appeal. Overall, an invitingly refreshing pour which 100% encourages more than just a sip.
Low ABV, High level of flavour
Aroma
FoxCub Brewing Tropic Haze presents a tropical fruits aroma from opening the can, with fruits such as passionfruit and mango present. This shortly followed by a citrus edge with is comprised of lemon and grapefruit. A slight resinous pine aroma is present beneath the fruity nature which adds a pleasant bitterness to the aroma. Overall, a very aromatic session IPA bursting with intense tropical aromas.
Taste
On the palate, Tropic Haze presents an immediate hit of tropical fruits such as passionfruit, mango and peach, which is shortly followed by a citrus zest. The flavours of grapefruit is sharply followed mid palate a sweet malt base which allows this brew to maintain a smooth and crisp body. A resinous floral nature hides beneath the tropical flavour to present a subtle bitter bite. The finish is dry, crisp and leaving a moreish citrus bitterness. Overall, Tropic Haze offers a lot more flavour than the ABV lets on, this is bursting with tropical fruits and pine. Most of all though, this brew never sacrifices the drinkability. This is a well crafted Session IPA.
Time for my verdict.
To summarise, this is another cracking beer from the young brewery. Tropic Haze offered a vibrant and juicy experience in which I personally could have smashed a few of these cans as it went down incredibly well. I would recommend this to everyone, not only is it full of flavour, it is also approachable to those unacquainted with craft beer. To conclude I rate this is a 4.25 out of 5.
Where did I purchase this beer?
I bought this beer directly from FoxCub Brewing’s website. Really fast and well taken care of. Check them out and expand their name. Cheers
