Fourpure Limited Edition Pacific Pale Ale Review: A Refreshing Citrus Twist from London’s Craft Scene

If you’re a fan of bold hops and fruity profiles, Fourpure’s Limited Edition Pacific Pale Ale might just catch your eye. Brewed in London with antipodiean Galaxy hops, this seasonal release promises a tropical twist on the classic pale ale. But how does it actually stack up in taste, aroma, and overall experience? I cracked open a can to find out.

About Fourpure Brewing Co.

Founded in 2013 and based in Bermondsey, London, Fourpure Brewing Co. is one of the pioneers of the modern UK craft beer scene. With a name inspired by the four core ingredients of beer—malt, hops, yeast, and water—Fourpure is known for brewing accessible yet adventurous styles, often taking cues from global brewing traditions.

The Pacific Pale Ale is part of their limited edition series, aimed at showcasing hop-forward, experimental brews with seasonal flair.

Aroma & First Impressions

The moment you crack the can, you’re greeted with a wave of tropical fruit aromas—think passionfruit, nectarine, and a hint of citrus zest. There’s a subtle malt backbone that doesn’t overpower, making the hops the star of the show.

It pours a bright golden color with a decent white head, holding its own nicely in the glass.

Tasting Notes

The flavor closely follows the nose, delivering juicy citrus and stone fruit notes from start to finish. Passionfruit, lemon peel, and peach dominate the front palate, while the finish is crisp and slightly bitter, offering good balance.

The body is light to medium, making it very drinkable—perfect for warm afternoons or casual beer sessions. However, it doesn’t push boundaries or deliver a huge flavor punch compared to more hop-forward pale ales.

My Verdict: 3.5 out of 5

Fourpure’s Pacific Pale Ale is a solid, sessionable craft beer that delivers on refreshment and tropical flavor. It’s easy-drinking and clean, with just enough complexity to keep things interesting.

However, I gave it a 3.5 out of 5 because it feels a bit safe—especially for a limited edition release. It’s well-made and enjoyable, but I’d love to see Fourpure push the envelope more with bolder hop blends or experimental profiles.
