Brewgooder Peachy Daze Review: Hazy Peach IPA Taste, Aroma & Verdict

Brewgooder is a brewery which has a main mission of clean water for all. I do like a brewery which has a mission to do good in this world. Another thing to note about Brewgooder is that their beer is often on the lower side in terms of ABV and pretty accessible to both craft beer nerds like myself or those more casual drinkers. Anyways, today’s review is on their Hazy Peach IPA called Peachy Daze. What did I think of it? To find out I will cover the history of Brewgooder and the beer, the pour, the taste and aroma and my verdict.

A force for good

Brewgooder was founded in Edinburgh in 2016 by Alan Mahon and James Hughes. Brewgooder operates on the idea of ‘a force for good’ by using profits to help with schemes such as clean water and sanitation projects worldwide. The concept is to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goal of universal access to clean water. The concept is that of ‘drink beer, give water’. Brewgooder is also a B Corp certified brewery which encourages social and environmental standards. Every beer released contributes to their foundation.

From what I understand is that Brewgooder mainly operates as a contract brewery and does not operate is traditional single site brewery. This means they design their recipes, branding and establish their own set of standards. However, they collaborate with established breweries in order to physically brew the beer. Brewgooder’s beers are designed to be more approachable and focuses on lower ABV than other breweries. They often brew hazy IPAs, fruit beers and session strength sippers with are perfect for anyone.

Peachy Daze is a modern fruit forward beer which is particularly hazy in nature. It carries an ABV of 4.6% and is described as having a thick, hazy and smooth mouthfeel. Peachy Daze sits alongside the current Brewgooder lineup of calling for drinkability and broad appeal. This is accessible to almost anyone especially with it being vegan friendly too.

A lively pour

Brewgooder Peachy Daze pours a golden to orange colour which has a haze to it. Although, it is not as hazy as other hazy pales, this still contains the distinct unfiltered nature. A foamy white head forms which lasts the duration of the drinking experience, leaving a delicate amount of lacing down the glass. In terms of carbonation, this was quite lively and a steady stream of bubbles was observed throughout the experience. To conclude this is a very lively and typical session hazy pour.

A fruit forward flavour profile

Aroma

On the nose, Peachy Daze hits you with an immediate fruit forward aroma such as peach and perhaps apricot. A touch of tropical and citrus fruits such as mango and lemon zest are noticeable. This has a slight herbal undertone which coincides with a sweet and approachable malt bill. Overall, the aromatics of this Brewgooder brew is well rounded and overly dank or hop forward.

Taste

Brewgooder Peachy Daze directly follows on from the aroma by delivering an instant fruit forward flavour such as peach and light sprinkling of mango and lemon. A soft bitterness builds which is almost floral and grassy which sits alongside a sweet but balanced malt backbone which is reminiscent of a bready or cracker nature. The finish is clean and somewhat dry with a light peachy aftertaste lingering. The mouthfeel of this beer was smooth, typical of a hazy IPA. Overall, a pleasant and fruit forward pour which was quite peach forward but it worked really well with the malt bill.

Time for my verdict

In regard to Brewgooder, I have tried their multipack before in which you got many different styles and I felt that was good but not amazing. However, I enjoyed Peachy Daze as I felt it was light and refreshing and does its job really well of being a refreshing accessible beer. This was not too aggressive in the hop forward nature which is usually a criticism but this doesn’t claim to be anything it’s not. I feel this is a nice beer to relax and session as its ABV is only 4.6% so it’s not going to give you a sore head quickly. Overall, this beer is a force for good and it is nice to have a beer that tastes good and also helps those in need. In terms of the beer itself it surprisingly rate it as 4.5 out of 5. I really enjoyed this one in all honesty.

Where did I purchase Peachy Daze?

I purchased this beer from the COOP.

Thanks for reading my review. If you enjoyed my review you will love my review of Favela IPANEMA, another brewery founded for good causes.
