This beer purchased as gift from my girlfriend on our trip down to Manchester a couple of weeks ago. Solely picked this is a bit of nostalgia of teletext. Yes I am old enough to remember teletext. I also noticed two key things, this was a New England IPA and also from a cracking brewery in Sureshot. So, during the course of this review I will cover the history of this Sureshot TV highlight of the week, the pour, the taste and aroma and finally, my verdict.
A vibrant brewery in a vibrant city
Sureshot Brewery is an independent brewery based in Manchester. A craft brewery known for its hop forward and iconic branding, it was founded in 2020 by James Campbell and Michael Forde. In 2022, they released their first beers after deciding to focus their brewing on quality, flavour and fun. Ever since, the brewery has brewed over 160 different beers and spanned this across many different beer styles. They have a large presence amongst beer festivals and in bars and shops across the United Kingdom. Their Sureshot taproom sits beneath Piccadilly Station in Manchester. Sureshot’s philosophy centers on brewing beers people love to drink without taking themselves too seriously ,reflected in the expressive names (often long and humorous) they give their beers.
TV Highlight of the week was in fact a collaboration between SureShot, Balance Brewing and Blending, Brasserie Dalons and WHC Lab. Balance Brewing and Blending were founded in 2021 by Will Harris and James Horrocks with a focus on mixed-culture barrel-fermented brewing. They specialise in sour and barrel-aged beers inspired by the Belgian lambic-style. They focus on British ingredients, cool blends and wild fermentations. Balance beers spend significant time ageing in barrels before being blended, sometimes onto hops or fruit, bringing layers of acidity, funk, and texture that contrast with more straightforward ales.
Brasserie Dalons is an artisan brewery from La Réunion, a French island in the Indian Ocean. Founded around 2018, Dalons began as a local brewery producing a variety of beer styles suited to the island’s tastes and ingredients. A distinctive innovation from Dalons is the development of a native yeast strain called Yellow Flower isolated from local flora on La Réunion which brings tropical, exotic and floral character to fermentation and makes it uniquely expressive in collaborative beers.
Established in 2017, WHC Lab develops and supplies innovative yeast strains, bacteria cultures, enzymes, and fermentation aids. along with technical support and QC services ,to help breweries achieve consistent fermentation performance and explore new flavour potential.
The can design points towards nostalgic effect of the teletext back in the 90’s and 00’s. This beer is 6% in Abv and contains Yellow Flower yeast and hopped with citra and nelson sauvin.
A juicy pour

TV highlight of the week pours juicy and opaque with a hazy golden to yellow pour. There is a glow which is visible in the glass which is mostly from the unfiltered nature. The head forms a thick and creamy cap which is retained throughout the drinking experience. The carbonation of this beer is moderate. Overall, a fresh and juicy appearance.
Taste and aroma highlight of the week
Aroma
When it comes to aromatics Sureshot Tv highlights of the week opens with tropical fruit such as ripe mango, passionfruit and pineapple. This is aided with citrus notes of lemon and orange. Behind this is a floral edge to this beer which is likely when the yeast which gives it an exotic edge. After the fruity part, it moves on to a gentle malt sweetness which helps keep everything balanced. Overall, a very fresh and clean aroma.
Taste
The first sip is dominated by the mouthfeel which is extremely smooth and soft. In terms of flavour, you are immediately greeted tropical fruit similarly to the aroma. Notes of passionfruit and mango are present, as well as the citrus edge. Mid- Palate this depth shines, there is floral note with an added acidity which most likely is from the fermentation and yeast processes. The bitterness is restrained and the malt backbone keeps this NEIPA balanced. Overall, a clean, dry and refreshing sipper.
Time for my verdict
To conclude, this was a great nostalgic which is often the aim of Sureshot. In terms of this collaboration, I feel the collabs especially regarding the yeast really added an extra layer of depth this beer which really made it standout. However, this NEIPA did not standout as much as others have in the past. This still great mind you and highly recommend. Overall, I rate this a solid 4 out of 5 cheers
